JORDAN SKELLY

Name and nickname?

Jordan Skelly

How long have you been involved with sports?

Swimming since an early age. With a huge variety between there and my eventual find of triathlon.

How long have you been on the race Britcon team?

Goodness...I'll actually have to look this up. 2015 initially whilst it was the Offthatcouchfitness Raceteam, before our current sponsor and representation under Britcon.

What’s your favourite discipline and why?

Tricky, very tricky actually. Each has it's values and highlight. But oddly, given its probably my least natural discipline, it has to be the bike. You can't run around Mallorca in a day can you and take in the views!

What’s your least favourite and why?

And probably quite controversially it has to be the bike too😂 my darkest days in the sport have been on the bike. There's few moments that have questioned my choices to train, quite like being 40miles from home wet/cold with nothing in your legs.

Who are Inspirations?

You can call it ass kissing..but few people have quite had such an influence in my belief than Clarky (Steve Clark). From being my Coach initially, to seeing his own performances and where his commitment has taken him.

Top tip for a newbie?

Be patient and depending on your aspirations for sport get a rated Coach. They will save you some time of finding out your doing it wrong the hard way, if you listen that is.

Favourite training session?

Currently, it's a tough call between Saturday group run, or my Swim sets with teammate Jack, which we're making decent forward steps in.

Why did you get involved with OTCF/Britcon

In the first years, it was simply a privilege to be on a team with guys/girls who achieved such great success with racing around the world. Now whilst the team has grown, it's great to be involved with more of a collective effort to improve everyone of all starting points in the sport.

How did you get into triathlon ?

After joining my local cycling and running clubs and attending a few timetrials, I met former teammate Luke Mathews and current teammate Steve Grocock, who were doing these races that seemed out of this world to what I already knew. And the challenge was set from there.

Favourite meal?

Paella, but specifically when in the Mediterranean, they just know what they're doing. Probably because of only being able to have it 1week a year.

Favourite film / series?

Have little time to fit in films or any series generally. But Sherlock Holmes, or anything requiring a depth of thinking, can be addictive.

Outside of sport you love doing?

There is an outside of sport??? Haha no, seriously it would be anything with adventure or sightseeing.

Best race performance to date

I feel quite privileged that this is a difficult choice. Having had a few successes around the Olympic distances tri/duathlon to be proud of, it's not easy. But for all around deliverance of ability across Swim,Bike,Run across 10hours and get it right, it would be my first Ironman in Lanzarote.

Bucket list races to do

Kona-obvious reasons

Norseman-for worrying reasons (my head needs testing)

Ironman New Zealand-for the experience

Biggest sporting achievement

For coverage has to be 2nd at LCW Tenby 2019.

In terms of 🥇probably 1st in ETU Duathlon 2016 and fastest Brit in standard distance race.
